Mission Statement 

  

The cornerstone of every society is the family.  With the support of its members, the International Family Therapy Association (IFTA) provides international conferences to promote, strengthen and improve the quality of family therapy, the quality of relationships within families and to promote well-being and peace within our world.

IFTA, working in a collaborative spirit with other professionals and organizations around the world who share its mission, also promotes continuing education for family therapy professaionals in the development of international quality standards for marriage and family therapists in order that they may better assist families in the communities in which they serve.

As a member of IFTA you will recieve a subscription to the Journal of Family Psychotherapy . This is the official journal of IFTA and is sent to you as part of your membership fee.

 

Additionally, you will receive the International Connection newsletter sent to you with updates about the organization and additional articles written by members worldwide.

 

Network with family therapist from around the world at special meetings and our IFTA World Congress or IFTA International Family Therapy Conference that takes place yearly in different countries.

  • Election of IFTA Officers. Here is information and the results of the IFTA 2009 Officer and Board of Directors election.,
  • XVIII World Congress. Complete information for the next IFTA World Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina, March 17 - 20th 2010 is now available.
  • In Memorium: Olga Silverstein. Sadly, Family Therapy has lost another of its pioneers. Read the obituary here.
  • William Nichols IFTA President-Elect:  Judith Landau, IFTA President, announced today William C. Nichols (USA) was elected to the post of President Elect beginning on February 8, 2009.

  • IFTA Supports Core Competencies in Family Therapy. See the Training Division Section for more information.
  • Traveling Trainers.  The Training & Education Division announces a program to provide, without an honorarium, family therapy training for programs in countries in need of assistance to develop their own family therapy training programs.

IFTA is a non-governmental organization (NGO) which has Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

Please consider making a tax-deductable contribution to IFTA. IFTA has several categories in which you can might make a tax deductible charitable contribution before the end of 2006.  You may make Vountary Contributions to the IFTA Development Fund, or the IFTA Publications Fund, or the IFTA Scholarship Fund, or the IFTA General Operations/Income Fund, or the  Kaslow Fund for Conference Plenary Speakers.
